Monday 1pm - 3pm (session runs 1.30 - 2.30) from 29 April 2019 to 8 July 2019 Start and finish times can be flexible to suit availability Term Time only There may be opportunities to attend additional sessions and locations on an ad hoc basis


Come and share your enthusiasm for play with our young children and parents/carers who visit the weekly Let's Get Physical sessions.
We are looking for a volunteer to;
Help set up ready for and clear away after the group
Welcome parents/carers and the children to the group
Role model a positive play experience
Encourage group member to engage with play and activities
Assist staff with the session feedback and future session planning
Promote the group and other services available through Children's Centres
Attend Child Protection Basic Awareness training and level one Baby Friendly Initiative session

Organisation Description

Children’s centres provide services for families with children under five. They host drop-in advice clinics, parenting workshops, parent and toddler groups and even speech and language services. Many also host regular activities for children under five.

Skills and Qualifications


There are no formal qualifications required but we do ask our volunteers to;
attend Child Protection Basic Awareness training
attend the level one Baby Friendly Initiative session
hold an enhanced children's DBS and have signed up for the Update service or apply for an enhanced children's DBS through us
be reliable and punctual
have an approachable, friendly manner with an ability to put others at ease
be a good listener and have good communication skills
have experience of being around children under 5 (as a parent / carer / at work / as a volunteer)
understand the challenges of parenting
have the ability to understand the importance of safeguarding and Health and Safety as they apply to the group


Volunteers should;
gain enjoyment and experience of working with children under 5 and their parents/carers
be proud to pass on their skills, use their knowledge and experience to support group members
develop skills in working with a group and families with particular needs
develop person qualities, such as confidence and self-esteem
gain experience to add to a CV
have the possibility for a reference for a job or future volunteering opportunity
