Description

Weston and District Community Transport use mini-buses to transport elderly, disabled and vulnerable people of the community within the Weston and district area, volunteer Mini-bus drivers, are urgently needed to assist with this very valuable work, in order to drive a mini-bus you must have a D1 on your licence.

All volunteers will be asked to submit to a DBS check

Organisation Description

Weston and District Community Transport is a Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee, it has been established over ten years and incorporates Dial 'a' Ride provision. The aim of the charity is to provide transport solutions for the elderly, disabled and/or disadvantaged in the Weston-super-Mare area. All the vehicles are wheelchair accesible.

Dial 'a' Ride is a membership scheme (currently £11.00 per year) providing concessionary 'local' travel and day trips for members, with discounts for holders of local authority travel cards.

We also provide transport, with or without a driver, for various local clubs and society's.

WDCT runs 'Weston wheels' which is a hospital car service co-ordinated by volunteers. This service provides transport to and from the Bristol hospitals on a cost recovery, not for proft basis (currently 45 pence per mile).

We are a MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training provider (prices on application).
