Description

Are you prepared to get down and play? We are looking to recruit a Group Assistant for the Stay and Play outreach group at The Firs resource Centre assisting the Family Support Workers and team. Main tasks and responsibilities:-
To help set up ready for the group and help to tidy away afterwards
To welcome parents / careers and their children into the group
To role model within the group
To encourage group members to engage with the activities
To ensure the risk assessment for the group is complied with
To take part in the promotion of the group
To assist with the post session evaluation and future planning, along with the staff team
To help prepare fruit for snack time when provided

Organisation Description

Children’s centres provide services for families with children under five. They host drop-in advice clinics, parenting workshops, parent and toddler groups and even speech and language services. Many also host regular activities for children under five.

Requirements

An approachable, friendly manner, and a desire to be helpful
Self confidence and an ability to put others at ease
Non-judgemental attitude
Good Listener and good communication skills
Punctual and reliable
Experience of being around children under 5 years of age (as a parent or carer / at work / as a volunteer)
Understanding of the challenges of parenting
Ability to understand the importance of Safeguarding and Health and Safety procedures as they apply to the group. You will be asked to attend a 3 hour Child Protection Basic Awareness course and a 3 1/2 hour Baby Friendly Initiative session.
A Food Hygiene qualification is desirable, but not essential. You will be supported to gain this qualification if you do not already hold one
