Practical Support Volunteer

Macmillan Cancer Support

Name: Practical Support Volunteer
Organisation: Macmillan Cancer Support
Location: C/O Voluntary Action North Somerset, Weston Court, Oldmixon Crescent, Weston-Super-Mare, North Somerset, BS24 9AU

Description

Help make sure no one in North Somerset faces cancer alone. People tell us they need practical support during their cancer journey and need help locally. Macmillan's Buddies is a new project and we'd love you to be a part of it! We need volunteers to support people in their homes and local area. Training will be provided before you start your role.

You will provide practical support (such as help around the house, with light gardening or shopping) to people who are currently unable to do this themselves, either because they have cancer or are caring for someone with cancer. You will be provided with training and support to help you and we hope that you will be able to give us a 6 - 12 months commitment, around 2 hours a week.

In return for your support you will get the opportunity to support a high-profile organisation, make a difference to people affected by cancer, develop existing skills and learn new ones, be an important part of trialing this exciting new service and meet new people. We will also provide a comprehensive training programme and ongoing support and supervision and reimburse expenses.
