|Name:||Health Walk Leader|
|Organisation:||North Somerset Council - Health Walks|
The Health walks program is set and there is a health walk every day somewhere in North Somerset (not weekends), across various locations: Long Ashton, Weston, Nailsea, Yatton, Winscombe &Clevedon The role can be flexible and commitment does not have to be every week.
If you enjoy the outdoors, like working with people and want to be more active in your spare time then volunteering for the health walks programme could be for you.
The walks, which are intended to help people who need to get more active to improve or maintain their health, are sociable and enjoyable occasions which are based from the main towns in North Somerset.
You do not need to be a good walker, walks last no more than an hour and are generally taken at various paces to suit all abilities. Walk leading experience is not required, as training will be given.
Leading Health Walks and helping others can be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. You will meet and chat with new people, and discover some of the hidden paths and open spaces.
We are always striving to work with those that need support to get active for a range of health conditions. Volunteers with previous experience of working with those with mental health and/or people with chronic health conditions would be particularly welcome to get in touch.
Our aim is to increase physical activity levels of local people across all sections of the community.
Friendly, approachable, flexible and reliable.
Friendship and getting to know your local area.
