Flexible shifts available Monday to Saturday. Most volunteers join us for perhaps 3 or 4 hours a week. A regular commitment allows us to plan a rota however we are grateful for any time offered and can be flexible.

Description

Join our fun and friendly shop teams in several locations across your area, raising vital funds for St Peter’s Hospice. Our shops are busy and interesting environments, beautifully presented and generously supported with donations - you never know who you will meet or what you will discover!

Our volunteers get involved in the following - you might like to try a bit of everything or prefer to build your confidence and expertise in a particular area!
• Customer Service - You will need to be friendly and helpful and love meeting new people. You will be involved in serving customers, making sales, using the till, tidying and restocking the shop, welcoming donors and encouraging them to join our Gift Aid scheme. No experience needed.

• Stockroom Assistant - You enjoy the excitement of handling a variety of donations - a sense of humour is important as you never know what you might find! You will be involved in preparing a variety of stock for sale. No experience needed..

• Display Assistants - You should have an eye for detail and enjoy creating something beautiful. Under the guidance of the shop manager, you might be involved in window dressing and shop floor displays to encourage sales. Experience great but not essential!

• Specific Skill Areas - Do you have a particular interest or skill which you are willing to share with us - perhaps a knowlege of antiques, jewellery, vintage fashion, books, records, cameras or other collectables. We are always keen to hear from "specialist volunteers" who may be able to work with us on a flexible basis.

Organisation Description

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Our commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones.

We run 51 shops across the Bristol and North Somerset area which raise vital funds for our services. We rely on our fantastic volunteers to help run the shops, serving customers, preparing items for sale and keeping our shops looking amazing.

Skills and Qualifications

Requirements

No experience necessary as full training will be given.
You should be prepared to work in a team of staff and volunteers in a busy working environment.
Customer service roles require a reasonable level of English. You should be friendly, polite and well presented.
Stock preparation roles require some stamina and a good sense of humour!
