|Organisation:||Leonard Cheshire - Birnbeck House|
|Location:||2 St Paul's Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 4AF|
Every Monday evening, we hope volunteers will be able to commit to volunteering with us for at least six months
We are looking for someone to escort one of our residents to Girls Brigade once a week. You would meet our resident at Quantock House, Quantock Road to Walliscote Road, Weston super-Mare and help her prepare for her group. You will talk to her about what she did last week and what she would be doing this session. Once ready, you will walk with her to Girls Brigade and continue to talk about her night. You may discuss with the Girls Brigade about staying or you may return at the end of the club and escort our resident home again. It is important that you can do both walks each night.
Leonard Cheshire Disability is a charity supporting disabled people in the UK and around the world to fulfil their potential and live the lives they choose, enabling people to access the local community and participate fully in a wide range of social and leisure activities.
Birnbeck House is a home providing a range of services for adults with learning disabilities. It's a lovely Edwardian building situated near the sea front in the popular holiday town of Weston super Mare.
Our residents make sure their home has a lively atmosphere. We offer a wide range of activities, including swimming, music and dance therapy, and social events. We also hold fundraising events in the home, which residents get involved with, if they wish.
Our fully-trained staff members are experienced and provide our residents with 24-hour support. We support our residents to be independent and to take part in community activities as they wish.
The volunteer would need to be caring and compassionate, able to make conversation and be a support on this short walk.
