Cinema Club Escort

Leonard Cheshire - Birnbeck House

Name: Cinema Club Escort
Organisation: Leonard Cheshire - Birnbeck House
Location: 2 St Paul's Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 4AF
Type: Part Time

Description

We are looking for someone to escort our residents to go to the cinema in Weston-super-Mare. Ideally once a week. You would meet our resident at Quantock House, Quantock Road to Walliscote Road, Weston super-Mare.

You will then join our support staff and residents either board the mini-bus or walk to the cinema. You will talk to participants about the film you are about to see, and maybe discuss the last film they had seen.

You will accompany residents into the cinema, helping them choose their refreshments and help them to find the correct screen and seat. We will pay for your cinema ticket. Once the film is over, you will help participants back to the mini-bus or walk with them back to the resident’s home. We ask that you commit to one cinema trip each month. Cinema trips tend to be in the afternoon.

Organisation Description

Leonard Cheshire Disability is a charity supporting disabled people in the UK and around the world to fulfil their potential and live the lives they choose, enabling people to access the local community and participate fully in a wide range of social and leisure activities.

Birnbeck House is a home providing a range of services for adults with learning disabilities. It's a lovely Edwardian building situated near the sea front in the popular holiday town of Weston super Mare.

Our residents make sure their home has a lively atmosphere. We offer a wide range of activities, including swimming, music and dance therapy, and social events. We also hold fundraising events in the home, which residents get involved with, if they wish.

Our fully-trained staff members are experienced and provide our residents with 24-hour support. We support our residents to be independent and to take part in community activities as they wish.
