Academic Support Tutors can volunteer to support students on a small group basis at the following times with students of different ages: Primary - Tuesday/Wednesday 15:15 - 17:15 Secondary - Monday/Thursday 15:45 - 17:45 Tutors commit to one of these sessions each week during term-time. You do not need any previous experience working with young people, just a positive attitude and lots of enthusiasm.

Description

Our Academic Support programme offers young people, from disadvantaged backgrounds, the opportunity to access learning resources and support with homework and revision after school. As a tutor, you would support primary or secondary students with homework and other educational activities. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers to support our students in our learning centre in Weston-Super-Mare.

Organisation Description

IntoUniversity is an award-winning education charity which provides local learning centres where students from disadvantaged backgrounds are inspired to achieve. Young people from the UK’s poorest backgrounds tend to do less well at school and are far less likely to go to university. IntoUniversity provides long term academic support, motivation and encouragement to give young people a fair chance of realising their full potential.

Our tutors must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Grade C in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
- Enthusiasm for education
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to act on initiative
- Patience

You could be helping a Year 3 student learn how to use a camera to become a budding photographer, or helping a Year 11 student revise for their GCSE’s.
