This role is suitable for regular or flexible volunteering. Volunteers are welcome to drop in and do as many hours as they would like 11- 4 pm Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Description

We are looking for enthusiastic gardeners to work on environmental projects within Grove Park. Whether you have experience or are new to gardening we will find something to suit you.

We offer a range of activities including: bug hotel maintenance, rockery and pond work, edibles bed, recycling and general park maintenance.

We welcome volunteers of all ages.

Organisation Description

Friends of Grove park is a voluntary organisation which has been running for over three years, where volunteers use their skills to improve Grove Park for the local community, enhancing wildlife, organising community events and encouraging people to use this beautiful public space.

Requirements

What we are looking for: enthusiastic people who love being outdoors in most weathers and who enjoy gardening and physical work. People with knowledge of horticulture and construction are welcome, but so are people who would like to develop their knowledge in these areas. We are looking for people who care about the environment and who are looking to make a positive difference in their local community. Also for people who would like to connect to like minded people and have some fun.


Benefits

They can gain knowledge of horticulture, park maintenance and experience of organising and helping at community events. Friends of Grove park are happy to provide references.

Wheelchair Access: Yes
Expenses: We cannot reimburse travel expenses, only expenses directly linked to a project.
Restrictions: The park is hilly and some projects require a firm footing. Disabled Access: Person must be able to get around grove park, we are working on disabled access but not yet available Wheelchair Access : Some areas of the park are easy access for wheelchair
Induction: Orientation with Johnny or Anne on first visit
Insurance Cover: In place
Special Needs: Welcome, but if need support will need to bring with them.
Offer: Support with gardening knowledge
Training: Not formal, but on the job training will take place depending on the interest if the individual
