We need volunteers to help sort donations that have come in now we have re-opened after the COVID-19 lockdown period. Some of our regular volunteers are currently unable to volunteer and we would like some extra support.

Description

Helping at our busy charity shop in Burnham-on-sea! We need help sorting through donations, keeping the shelves and the racks tidy as well as chatting to customers on the shop floor.

We receive lots of donations of clothes, books, crockery and ornaments which all need to be sorted and labelled before being placed on display in the shop. We also need help keeping our window display and shelves clean and tidy and updated with new items as often as possible.

Some of our volunteers also help with answering the phone in the shop.

Organisation Description

Secret World Wildlife Rescue specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of orphaned and injured wild creatures. It is run entirely on donations and runs a wildlife rescue service in the South West of England.

Each year, more than 5,000 wild animals are helped by Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Together with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we continue to care for all manner of creatures, from the tiniest harvest mice and bats to badgers, swans, foxes, deer and otters.

Requirements

No previous experience is required but customer service or retail experience would be useful.

Generally being happy to speak to members of the public.


Benefits

Volunteers would gain retail and customer service experience, they would also get to meet new people and would be invited to our staff and volunteer social events and training opportunities at our main site in Highbridge.

Offer: Our staff cannot offer individual support.
Training: Will be given by the charity shop managers and/or volunteers
Other: There is uneven flooring and narrow spaces at the shop.
