Our trustees are expected to attend 6 board meetings a year. Meetings are held every two months and are arranged to suit availability.
Each year we have an Away Day at a local venue where staff and trustees meet to discuss plans and ideas for the future of the charity. Otherwise trustees can complete any work required by their roles at times to suit themselves.
The board organises training, where necessary, for existing as well as new trustees.

Description
Two trustees are required to join the management board of a small but effective North Somerset Homelessness Charity. Legal background and/or local church links useful, but all applications will be considered.
We wish to increase the range of experience and expertise amongst the board members and the specifics of the roles will be tailored to the skills and experience of the individuals.
KeySteps has been running for 25 years securing accommodation in the private rented sector for those who are homeless or in insecure accommodation, by guaranteeing deposits to landlords. Landlords and tenants are supported throughout the tenancy, with many clients maintaining their tenancy for several years.
The Articles of Association state that ‘the charitable purpose is the relief of poverty in the area of North Somerset especially in relation to residential accommodation by such charitable activities as the Trustees think fit’.
Tenants and non-tenants can access advice over the phone or via our weekly drop-in sessions. Help offered includes: form filling, support at appeals and meetings, accessing essential household goods. Clients may be signposted to other services for help with mental health or addiction problems.
We currently have 1.5 members of staff who work from our offices in St John’s Hall, Boulevard, Weston-super-Mare.
Our outcomes are measured regularly. This is for our own information and is needed to present to funders, upon whom we depend almost entirely for our income.
KeySteps is the working name of WDGB Ltd, which became an incorporated company limited by guarantee in 2011. WDGB Ltd is registered at Companies House in England with the Company Number 07889611 and is also registered with Charity Commission and has the Charity Number 1146111.

KeySteps is a charity set up to help homeless people in North Somerset by offering them a bond to cover the deposit on a private rental dwelling. KeySteps
was originally the "Woodspring Deposit Guarantee Board" - later shortened to WDGB.
Twice weekly drop-in surgeries offer advice on housing and associated matters to anyone who needs it, and also support to landlords.

Requirements
The candidates must be committed to the cause of poverty relief in North Somerset, must be able to work collaboratively and independently. They must be reliable and able to commit to their duties as trustee.
There must be no existing or potential conflict of interest and there must be no disqualifying reason as listed by the Charity Commission and Company Acts.
It is helpful if the candidates live within easy access of Weston-super-Mare.
