Treasurer

Nailsea Shedders

Name: Treasurer
Organisation: Nailsea Shedders
Location:
Type: Part Time
Flexible role overseeing charities financial requirements.

Description

We run a repair workshop where we make, fix, mend things in the
community including taking bespoke commissions from other charities
and local community groups. We recently 3D printed our first spare part
for an electrical appliance subject to obsolescence. We therefore sit very
central within the climate emergency agenda, preventing landfill, providing
opportunities to reduce social isolation and harness local skills to provide
practical solutions.

We are currently looking for alternative premises where we can have our
own space, open up with greater flexibility and we believe we are coming
close to securing that so that we can move forward in a more covert
secure environment.

Organisation Description

Nailsea Shedders (NS) is a registered Charity which runs along the lines of a 'Repair
work shop', affiliated to the United Kingdom Mens Sheds Association (UKMSA) but are
multi gendered.

We formed on 17th February 2014. We are based in Nailsea but it is the
social aspects and the interests we have in fixing, mending, repairing and repurposing
things which brings us together. Doing things together reduces social isolation while
sharing, learning, recycling things, makes us all feel good knowing in our own small
way, making the planets resources stretch further.

We have people who come to us from several neighbouring parishes such as
Portishead, Clevedon, Yatton, Backwell and Wraxall.

There are many ways in which you can get involved where following COVID 19 we were
the first to develop a 'Click, Collect & Repair Service' (CCR), taking orders within
appropriate Governmental guidance and within PPE guidelines, to collect things
needing repairing and in accordance with our insurers, permit Shedders to undertake
repairs/commissions in their own homes.
