Description

We are recruiting volunteers now. We have had to make a lot of changes in the last few months including how we recruit and train our volunteers and deliver our service. We are now offering telephone and video support to our families and are looking for new volunteers to help us do this.

We will be running a 4 week (one day a week) digital training programme in November to cover telephone and digital support.

Organisation Description

Home-Start North Somerset is part of a national charity. We recruit and train volunteers to help families with young children.

Our volunteers, are parents or grandparents themselves and support other parents by visiting them in their own homes for 2 - 4 hours each week. All kinds of families can find it hard to cope for all sorts of reasons, maybe because of illness or disability of a child or because of post-natal illness, bereavement or loneliness. At Home-Start we support any parent with at least one child under the age of five who asks for our help.

Our supported families, like our volunteers, come from all walks of life. At Home-Start we believe parents have a key role in creating a secure childhood for their children. It's just that sometimes they need a bit of help ... your help. Home-Start North Somerset is now recruiting volunteers to join our friendly team.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

Home-Start volunteers offer friendship and support to families who have a child under 5, who may be experiencing difficulties or are finding it hard to cope for a variety of reasons. Our experience shows that early intervention by a volunteer at this crucial time in a child's life, greatly improves their life outcomes.

If you can spare 2-4 hours a week and are parent yourself we would like to hear from you. In return we offer ongoing training and support from a dedicated coordinator.

The volunteer would need access to a computer with a camera that can download zoom to complete the 4 week (one day a week) digital training programme.
