This role could be done virtually from home on any day of the week. Support on an ad hoc/ on-going basis according to service/ individual need. Can be a one-off task or on-going assistance.


To support access and develop people’s skills, knowledge, confidence and motivation to be online and use digital technology.

To enable people to digitally access services and resources either for themselves or for the people they care for, and to support people to manage their health and well-being online e.g. accessing video consultations, Ask My GP, navigating the internet, NHS website, setting up email, using apps, voice activated devices and voice recorders.

Provide information, support and coaching either face-to-face or virtually assisted by relevant online resources.

Locations include home based / virtual, community and public locations and both formal and informal health care settings.

To support patients referred for MSK physiotherapy to access video consultations using AccuRx.
To support patients attending the virtual Escape Pain programme with digital connectivity required.

MSK Physiotherapy is provided to adults across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Currently consultations are completed virtually either by telephone or video.

Volunteers will need to complete 'How to be a Digital Champion' - online training - this is free and volunteers will be advised about the process for this.

Training: The volunteer will be trained on the use of the technology in question and how troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Help will be given on how to interact and deliver the phone calls.
Other: - Having access to own vehicle is not necessary but may be useful. - It is not essential to have access to your own digital device/PC/ smartphone as equipment will be provided.
