Description
If the Edge Youth Project was a car, youth leaders would be its engine. Their the driving force behind the bulk of the work that we do. This role would include volunteering during our evening sessions to help make it a success, getting alongside young people, being a listening ear and giving sound advice whilst making the session as fun as possible are all things we look for in our youth leaders.

Organisation Description
The Edge Youth Project is a not-for-profit community interest company established in January 2021 with the long term aim of creating an open-to-all youth centre for 11-17yr olds in the town. Prior to the establishment of the youth centre The Edge Youth Project will offer a range off free-to-access events and meet-ups across a range of topics and issues including mental health, sport, and support for LGBTQ youth.

Skills and Qualifications
Requirements
Youth Leaders help run group based activities, community/environmental projects, advice sessions and skills workshops on a range of topics
• develop a relationship with young people based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in society
• establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behaviour
• support young people in different settings
• mentor, coach and support individuals, encouraging greater social inclusion and personal growth
• participate in training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and Edge Youth Project developments.
Benefits
Volunteers would gain experience in working with young people whilst having the opportunity to support them with issues life throws at them. To help young people from across the town thrive and have fun with them along the way.
