Curzon Clevedon Community Centre for the Arts

Name: Trustees
Organisation: Curzon Clevedon Community Centre for the Arts
Location: Curzon Cinema and Arts, 46 Old Church Road, Clevedon, North Somerset, BS21 6NN
Type: Part Time
Attendance at bi-monthly Board meetings and other strategic advice and support to the executive team according to skills and experience.

Description

Committed individuals wanted to join our talented Board of Trustees.

To support our development and growth at the Curzon we are looking for Trustees that bring substantial experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
• Strategic financial management
• Heritage/collection/archive conservation and interpretation
• Marketing and communications
• Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
• Team development, employment, and recruitment – including volunteers

We encourage applications from those who represent and bring knowledge of currently underserved communities in the region.

We are an independent, single-screen community-owned cinema. More than a cinema, the Curzon is a growing arts venue at the heart of a developing cultural quarter in and adjacent to Clevedon’s central conservation area and an important player in the regeneration of Clevedon. We strive to present a diverse programme of events and activities to engage with existing and new audiences.

We programme mainstream, British, world, arthouse, archive, and classic films, operating 7 days a week, 2 to 4 screenings a day. As one of the oldest, continuously running cinemas entertaining the populace since 1912, our building, archive and collection embody the architectural, social, and technological history of film – with conservation and restoration underway.
Curzon Cinema & Arts is a solvent going concern with over twenty years of business history and financial records in its current charitable status. We have never received core support from public organisations, though have been awarded grants for specific projects. In normal times small operating surpluses are returned annually to the charity from the trading arm.
