Walking - Exploring the Countryside (Wesport)

Osprey Outdoors Community Interest Company Ltd

Name: Walking - Exploring the Countryside (Wesport)
Organisation: Osprey Outdoors Community Interest Company Ltd
Location: North Somerset
Type: Part Time

Description

Get outdoors and explore the countryside. A party of volunteers are taken to the local countryside to walk and explore nature.

This voluntary role provides an opportunity to gain confidence in the exceptional local outdoor environment and to improve your health. It is also a chance to network with like minded people and learn about the local countryside. You will be in a group environment and encouraged to join in and support other’s needs.

Along the route we will identify trees and plants and look out for sign of wildlife. The group walks at the pace of the slowest, and volunteers are expected to keep the group walking together and to respect others capabilities.

This opportunity will also help develop skills that could contribute to your employability: team working, interacting with others, practically applying instructions, reliability and commitment. It also offers routine and value to individuals, working as a team to complete a walk which helps provide a platform to progress into other voluntary and employment opportunities.

You will be taken in our minibus to walk sites around the area. We go to beautiful places designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Nature reserves, and local villages on our walks.

Maps and compasses are supplied.

Please bring a packed lunch and warm, waterproof clothes and wear sturdy shoes / walking boots as we spend the day outside.

Pick up points:
Weston-super-Mare Train Station 9:30 am
Return around 4 pm. - or meet us at the start of our walk.

This opportunity is in conjunction with Wesport - Inspiring Active Lives.

Organisation Description

Osprey Outdoors is a people focused organisation. We use the natural environment and outdoor skills to engage people, to help them learn and develop, to gain confidence as an individual and in a team.

We are a local organisation whose aim is to get people into the outside environment, to volunteer, to work and to enjoy it. We are a not-for-profit company and aim to broaden people's horizons, by education on wildlife and natural spaces, giving people new skills by trying new things and by creating an environment and culture of trust so that those with less confidence feel at ease. Working on a variety of projects we enhance our local countryside and natural habitats in and around towns and their communities.
