We have specific shifts that need filling, people can volunteer each day, week or month.

Description

A brand new Cafe opening on Portishead High Street. Opportunities to
learn how to be a barista, make crepes and/or take and serve people and
operate the till.

Basic training will be provided with the opportunity to do formal Food
Hygiene level 2.

Shifts are either mornings or afternoons, or full days if preferred.
9.30am - 1.15pm
1.00pm - 4.30pm

Currently opening Wednesday am, Thurs, Fri & Sat 9.30 - 4.30 but
hoping to open Tuesday - Saturday 9.30 - 4.30

The Hub is a ‘not for profit’ venture with all profits going back into the
community.

Volunteers need to be able to adhere to food safety regulations and are
expected to be safe moving around the Cafe floor.

Organisation Description

We are a new Community Cafe, on Portishead High Street, inside The
Methodist Church. We serve Crepes, Baguettes, Loose Leaf Tea and
Barista coffee, Smoothies & soft Drinks.

We are dedicated to using ethical and, as far as possible, local
ingredients.

Aprons will be provided and volunteers can expect a complimentary crepe or baguette & drink at the end of their shift.

Expenses: There are no expenses.
Restrictions: Volunteers have to be able to adhere to food safety and not be a typhoid carrier. They also have to be able to move freely around the floor space and carry trays of food to customers.
Induction: Flexible individual inductions.

Special Needs: We welcome volunteers with special needs and will make all reasonable adjustments to ensure they are able to do the work if they are capable of doing so.
Offer: The Manager is trained in development trauma, autism and ADHD. The Hub is designed to be a welcoming place on the high street and this includes our volunteers as well as our customers
Training: On the job training - barista, smoothie maker, food prep, crepe maker, sandwich making, table serving, safeguarding. Formal (if desired) Food Safety Level 2, Allergens level 1, MECC,
Other: * Disabled Access may be limited - reasonable adjustments will be made. * The Manager is fluent in BSL so Deaf volunteers will find communication easy.
